Dual Language UPK (Universal PreK)
for children born in 2019 or 2020.
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK): Enrollment is free of charge to families, because the NYC Department of Education pays the tuition. To increase the number of UPK seats available in a wide range of communities, the DOE has invited some private schools with a documented record of effective early childhood programming to participate. These classes are operated by the host private school, but their curriculum is determined by the Department of Education.
Morningside Play Care operates a Dual Language PreK class. Enrollment in UPK is open to any child who applies. Children currently enrolled in the school and their siblings have first priority, followed by language heritage. There is no school-district priority. Morningside Immersion PlayCare sees its participation in UPK as a wonderful way to make multilingualism available to a more economically diverse population. Learn more by attending an Open House. Schedule
These classes will operate on a regular public school day of 6 hours and 20 minutes. UPK classes follow a schedule and curriculum approved by the Department of Education. Extended day opportunities would be made available through our private program.
